From a bubbly beginning to one soapy story...
The Soap Bakery, a home-based soap company established in 2017, takes its roots back in 1992 when then five-year-old Seline Lucy P. Lluisma became fascinated with soap bubbles. Bathing in a makeshifttub filled with soapy water turned into her favorite pastime. She loved the slippery feel of the water on her skin.
The childhood pastime developed into a skin care hobby later on in her early teens. She attracted the attention of people due to her smooth and blemish-free skin. At the age of 15, the unthinkable happened - she began to suffer from cyctic acne. She started undergoing various medical treatments but those stubborn painful bumps seemed to cling her to her skin all the more. She resorted to trying over-the-counter acne medication, beauty bars, and medicated creams, but her skin condition never improved. She eventually got tired of trying, gave up, and just let the acne take its natural course on her skin until the time came when they finally stopped growing. True enough, those bumps eventually stopped but left her skin deeply scarred. She dedicated to move on with her life and enjoyed a thriving career in the sales industry.
Years later, Seline shifted gears and while in the course of running a successful food business, she recalled her bumpy past. The scars on her face reminded of her first love: soap bubbles! “Why not create something that would help people like me find hope for their skin problems?”, she asked herself. She remembered everything that she used to apply on her skin to cure her acne in the past were all synthetic concoctions and none of them worked. She then heard about all-natural products could be a solution! She then started to read and research about the ingredients that go into making handmade soaps, read reviews, and interviewed soapmakers and users. After conducting a comprehensive research about soaps and soapmaking, she made her first-ever natural handcrafted soap and tried it. Voila! Her bumpy scarred skin felt and looked smoother after only a week. Hence, the bubbling up The Soap Bakery.
